Almost three weeks after Cyclone Nargis devastated the delta region of Burma’s Irrawaddy River, killing over 200,000 people and leaving about 2 million homeless and starving; while thousands of corpses are still floating in the waters; while remote towns like Bogalay haven’t received any assistance so far, the leader of Burma’s military junta has finally allowed foreign aid workers to enter the country. At least, that’s what he promised UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon after a two-hour meeting on Friday (5/23) in Burma’s new capital Naypyitaw. So far, international relief workers have been denied access to the worst-hit regions, and the corrupt government wouldn’t allow any direct distribution of food, water, medicine etc. by humanitarian organizations such as the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders. It is hard to imagine just how cynical and depraved the fascist leaders of Burma really are, but this video makes it pretty clear. It shows the extravagant wedding of the daughter of junta leader Than Shwe, taking place in the poorest country of South East Asia:

Here is a list of aid agencies accepting contributions for assistance for those affected by the cyclone in Burma.
